I don't really want to be using this blog as a soapbox, but personally, I'm getting tired of politicians who make shortsighted wasteful decisions, and then proceed to shove them down our throats.
On October 30th, the Montreal City Council will vote on whether to rename "Park Avenue".
You can find plenty of information about this on the internet, and I am NOT trying to convince you to agree with either side. What I am doing is letting you know that, if you do not agree with this decision, you can sign this petition
And if you do agree with the name change, you can send an e-mail to your councillor, a list is provided on this same page.

Le 30 octobre, le conseil de la Ville de Montréal votera pour changer le nom de l'Avenue du Parc.
Que vous soyez d'accord ou non avec cette décision, ce n'est pas à moi de vous le dire. Thursday January 26th, 2006 a feature article on Lo and the Magnetics will appear in the Montreal Gazette Music Section!
Thursday evening at 9:30PM at the Petit Campus in Montreal, hear a couple of Kingpins songs and other rocksteady as performed by Lo.Raz.e.pam (acoustic duo featuring Lo and Raz from the Magnetics) opens the show for Hawaii's Go Jimmy Go and NYC's The Toasters!
And Saturday night January 28th, 2006 Lo and the Magnetics are celebrating the remastered debut CD at the Petit Campus in Montreal with guest Synthetic Folk Hero (NYC/Toronto) and DJ Amyl Nitrate spinning all night long! Tickets only $6 in advance (L'Oblique, C'Dement, X2O, Sound Central) or $8 at the door. (Doors at 9PM - 18+)
By the way, The Magnetics first video "Pull it All Apart" has been serviced to MUCH Music and Musique Plus, it's time to get those requests in if you want to see it!

I for one am very glad this is out in the open again. There was a big scandal with payolas a few decades ago, then everyone thought it just disappeared! Thank you to NY Attorney General Spitzer for digging, and a big thank you to Sony/BMG for not trying to deny it. I hope this trend/agreement will extend beyond NY State. Thank goodness for Gregg Terrence of Indiepool for fighting for indie music in the new Canadian Content rules... and on satellite radio!!!

Je suis tres contente que le sujet des Payolas (ou les grosses compagnies payent les programmeurs musicaux aux grandes stations pour venir enfle les cotes de palmares et de rotation radio) a ete aborde et investigue par les autorites. Tout le monde pensait que c'etait fini, cette sale histoire, depuis des decennies... Je suis aussi contente et remercie Sony/BMG de ne pas avoir essaye de nier ce qui se passe a la radio. Espérons que cet arrangement prendra de l’ampleur partout, au lieu de simplement dans l’état de New York… et merci a Gregg Terrence de Indie Pool au Canada qui se bat pour la musique independente dans les nouveaux reglements du contenu canadien aux radios (et radios satellites)!!!
N'oubliez pas que nous avons besoin de vous, chaque album vendu ne peut que soutenir les projets que vous aimez.

On Ste-Catherine street West there is a store called C'Dement you'll find a copy of one of Me, Mom & Morgentaler's first recordings for $75, and just below it, our On the Run EP for $50
Those of you who already have that EP, hang on to them! There are less than 400 in circulation.
